HM the King enquires about school extension programme in northern Morocco
Jabal Lahbib - HM King Mohammed VI enquired, on Wednesday
in the northern rural commune of Jabal Lahbib (Tetouan province), about the
schooling extension programme in the Tangier-Tetouan region, worth 1.61 billion
dirhams ($ 196 million).
The Sovereign followed detailed explanations on this 2010-2012 ambitious programme
which provides for creating 120 new schools, extending 928 other institutions
and setting up 74 dormitories.
The programme aims to improve the efficiency of the national education system,
in line with the goals of the Emergency Education Programme, which seeks to
modernise the educational system, reorganize the schooling life and improve
the quality of education.
The Monarch also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a middle
school and a dormitory in the commune of Jabal Lahbib, at a cost of nearly
15 million dirhams.
Worth some 12.76 bln dirhams, the national school extension programme was
launched last November. It is meant to set up 1246 schools and strengthen
education through the construction of 4745 classrooms, the creation and expansion
of 846 additional dormitories.
